Today I've readen a small article about a statue of a nude & pregnant
Britney Spears that gives to birth on a bear-fur...
see: http://www.caplakesting.com/Warning link contains pictures of a nude
statue
The Idea behind: Pro-Life . I've read the large thread pro/contra abortion here
at minitokyo and I see how large the number of people is who are completly
against abortion. I'm not much into church and to be honest, those radical
pro-birth christians (especially from the US) are scaring me! But the pro and
contra discussion of being for or against abortion shall not continue in here, I
simply wanted to ask, what you people do think of this...
For me this statue is simply kitsch! Celebrating life with this doggy-style
statue that reminds me of one of those porn works by Jeff Koons looks simply
tasteless to me. Between Britneys spreaden legs, you will see the head of the
baby on the way out of her body, thats why some people do belive this
controversial statue is also pornographical (giving birth is porn? More
stupid!). This 1:1 statue is simply ugly, and this Pro-Life thing behind it:
celebrating life, being against abortion disturbs me alot. I do not dislike this
because I am pro-abortion, I am against it, because it is ugly and kitschy.
Using so-called art like this for propaganda is bad. This statue also reminds me
of the "Perfect Human" Statues of Arno Breker who became the most
wanted sculptor in the Third Reich...
Please tell me, what you do think about this sculpure or the idea for using art
like this for the Pro-Life thing...
I was born in the alps and there were only two sorts of milk: Out of cow/ Out of
store. I once tasted goat-milk but this wasn't something for me (Pew!)
I prefer hot milk with lots of chocolate and some cream... makes you become
fat... but who cares...
I love to cook: From Roesti to Sukiyaki, my speciality are desserts because I'm
such a sweet one . I
like to cook Italian and yesterday I made Chicken Curry (Chilli killed
H5N1...)
I do eat very spicy, that's why I do also like vietnamesian and thai- food...
I plan a sushi party for next week, hope this will be fun!
I dislike places full of smoke, I really get angry when someone smokes next to
me in a restaurant and I would never kiss a smoker.
Two friends of my family already died of smoking and If you are smart, you never
will start doing it. It's expensive and you hurt other people with this.
But shall you ban smokers? Yes, from all places where you can hurt children,
like trains or restaurants. Shall you ban smokers from all public places?
Not sure- Just putting laws on something will not make the problems
disappear.
We have to protect our children, so it's good thinking of smoke-free areas all
over the word…
I drunk my first bottle of beer with 14. With 16 I was able to buy it at the
store and with reaching the age of 18 it also was allowed for me to drink
cocktails or tequila in a bar. I never used alcohol just for getting drunk, I
never was into stupid things like binch drinking or something. I hated my
classmates when they were getting so damn drunk, I hated partys full of vomiting
teens and young girls unable to help themselves and easly fall a prey to more or
less drunken boys.
But I love to drink a glass of good whine o dinner or some icecold bottle of
beer at a party. I think the responsibility is up to the parents, the teens
themselves and the society-
Have you ever seen a DVD of Ryan Church, Art Director of Star Wars Episode II
& III? He draws everything, even the scetches on his A3 Wacom artpad. But is
this guy not an artist?! Does the computer draws or paints for him?
The only differences between CG Art and handmade Artwork: You can correct and
redo your work as often as you like, you don't need to spend money on color or
paper, you can choose the right colors from other images without the knowlege of
mixing and composing colors. But: In handmade Art: Your Final Version always
does have the right color, in CG art you always do have the problem with
printing or showing it on other screens. You can copy CG Art as often as you
like- In handmade Art there is only one original!
For me doing things CG is a question of saving money and time, without graphic
tablets, email and internet, my work would be much much more complicated.
But: I alway make pencil sketches, cause I didn't like to sketch or do a cleanup
on the computer. I love it so much to do a oilpainting, a aquarel or sketching
with chalk or charcoal... to feel and smell the tools and materials, there is
nothing greater but this!
But Being against CG art is like being against email or being against
celphones...
going outside and breathing fresh air, receive a kiss or a hug from a friend (If
you have none- go and catch some!) & hear to music that will make you feel
better. Now spring is coming to the northern half of the globe- good time for
getting rid of his depressions!
Sun helps me alot! * Trys to push the rainclouds away ...Grrr!*
*sings and dances* It's the end of the world as we know it...
The world will be destroyed by mankind, but I hope that this will takes a
while..
I feel fine! He,he, I love my life even if it sucks sometimes!
I will work as volunteer at the WM, hope I will make it inside the stadium!
GO SWITZERLAND! GO!
But when GERMANY will win... well, this would be a miracle;)...
My dreamcar: A car that needs no fuel, looks like a Ferrari and is big enough
for taking 2 or more friends with me..!
Hi, Hi... Boyz 'n' cars... I love to drive arround in a Mercedes S-Class. You
really feel strong in there and no one thinks of pushing you asside.
On the german Autobahn you can drive as fast as you like, that is pretty cool.
But people will think: What the heck is such a small girl doing with such a big
car?!... Rich stupid daddys darling, show-off...grrr!... Girls in such cars may
look strange... or do they look sexy? What did you think?
I play piano (my parents do have a grand piano- here in my flat I only do have a
keyboard) , I already tried to play some themes from final fantasy or Princess
Mononoke, that was fun!
Well, personally I am more interested in the originals but into western Manga,
but it is good, that so many young woman in this country today are dreaming of
becoming famous comic artists.
A huge part the Manga readers here are girls and what else can I say but GIRL
POWER!... But Girls: Try to be be more yourself and try to step out of the
fanart corner: design your own unique characters and write your own storys. Put
your own world into it!
Each comic culture can learn from another- We live in a World of remixers and
pimpers. But are you still intrested in the original?
Yes? So become an original yourself!
Submissions must have a minimum of forty-thousand (40,000) pixels.
Members may only submit their own work.
Doujinshi must feature a manga, anime, or game-related picture, and abstract art
must be non-realistic.
All artwork must meet a certain standard of quality, to be unconditionally
determined by the moderators. As such, unfinished artwork, doodles, and quick
sketches are not permitted for submission.
...
Mmm... I'm a bit scared-
what is 40,000 pixel? (200x200 Pixel Image? - thats a thumbnail!)
Who declares a artwork being finished: The Moderators? The ARTIST!
Yesterday I drew a picture for a TV Movie Production. I used artist chalk and
colored paper. After 45 minutes it was done and looked perfectly finished, good
enough for being shown in TV. Sometimes I work on a CG Artwork 3,4,5 hours and
it still doesn't look finished for me. And the more I will work on it the more
worse it will become.
Have you ever saw a page of one of the famous artists of manga and comic? Do
they show you their Images in HQ to you (no?), will you find sketches there
(YES/ alot) do these sketches look finised to you (Not sure?). Good sketches are
a big help for young artists for doing it right. You only can learn a figure by
knowing it's architecture, you only can read an artist by following his traces.
Some rough sketches definitively do belong into trashcan, but some sketches can
be so beautiful, somtimes even better than the final artwork.
Glen Keane the O-Sensei of Disney animators has got the most brilliant sketch
style ever- even good enough to put it on a magazine cover. Miyazakis water
color sketches and pencil storyboards are so wonderful that you can imagine a
whole movie by a few simple sketches!
All these images do look finished for me, do look finished for my colleges and
do look finished for art professors. But what did you think of this?
A last problem: My style- was not originally Manga, like i told you, I earn
money with my work, by doing designs, artworks and comics for studios and
companys. I am not sure If some of you will belive me or not (how can I proof
it, what shall I upload- I am so scared of getting angry because of not being
understood or being mistrusted?)
I am not willed to upload HQ (e.g. 3000x4000px) of artwork that was really hard
work. In a showcase, people can preview something like that in a fair resolution
like (1600 x 1200px) - Why isn't this enough? It's a unwritten law, that the
arist always keeps the best quality for himself or for his customers, because
you never will know, what people will do with your work when you upload it to
the internet.
Throughout my childhood I was disqualified and rejected from drawing contests
because nobody was beliving that a young fellow like me was able to draw that
good.
I still do not know what normal people do think of what a good/ professional or
not. I learned what socalled professionals and the fomous artists do think of
what is good and what needs a bit more training. Quite a long time I thought I
am very good, then I met people that are even better (lightyears).
I'm not sure if this place is good for me, but I will try it!

"beliving".... prrr... sorry for my bad english- writing in a foreign
language and watching a good movie at the same time is not good...
In germany you can rape and kill a child and you will go for 10 Years in prison
if you are below 21 (!)... In the US, rapists and childmurderer are punished
harder, thats good, but some verdicts on sexual crime do sound a bit strange for
me.
I don't wanna say that collectors of CP shouldn't be brought to justice- but
what is REAL CP, what is still harmless? Children are already part of our
over-sexualized society, they do have Idols like Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson
and do watch Hip-Hop videos, they try to dance like a lap-dancer and do wear
sexy hip-pants and thongs ...
The culture of dealing sex is different in each country. In germany nudity is
allowed on many beaches. In Latvia, even 10yo girls are wearing high-heels and
thongs: At the beach latvian girls sometimes does wear more fabric than in the
city- You see cute girls, dressed like child-prostitutes helping their
grandmothers over the road and caring for their younger brothers- there are no
perverts, there are no price tags on the girls nude bellys-
If everyone thinks on nudity as something completely normal, no one will collect
pics of nude or sexy dressed children on his PC or will spend money for watching
a prepuberal vagina...
The society produces it's own monsters and yes, comic artists can have an
influence on the sexual behavior of it's readers. They create a totally wrong
world, a word in where childern love sex and child rapists are faceless monsters
that will have nothing to do with real men... Bah! One time I saw something,
full of realistic looking explicit situations with very, very young looking
actresses. I was shocked: This book was sold regulary in japanese stores at this
time and I felt totally helpless. I was unable to erase this from my head and I
knew, this book is only one of thousands of books and thousands, maybe over a
million people now will have something like this on their PC's.
I felt like someone gave me a hit right into my face, then I wanted to slap
myself because I was thinking of the good artistic quality of this stuff. Then I
realized. These images are just paintings... MANGA, Pictures without meaning. It
was to much for me at this moment, I really wanted to cry- I thought of being
caught for downloading such stuff! I thought the whole night long about this
thing: Was it CP, or not? Do I made me guilty, did I destroyed my soul by
opening pandoras box?
Whoo! Images can do alot to people and yes: You cannot sell such books, you
cannot make money with such images! You feed dark creatures with this, and
maybe, you make people getting ideas and become curious what's beyond
imagination.
Hi! I do live in germany right now, and the most comic books that will be
sold in stores are Manga Comics. The Kids love Manga and it seems that western
Comics have no chance against it. There are many young talented manga artists in
germany right now and nearly all of them are female. My Professor (a woman)
didn't like those artists, she says:
They are imitators, image tracers and they do waste their talents to something
they never will become: Japanese. The manga style is a good trainig, but the
result of a good work shall be as well a proof of individuality and personalty
not just a proof of technical skills.
Another very chauvinistic answer to the question " Why are most of the
german manga artists are female?" from a friend from france was:
Girls are better tracers, they do have more patience and accuracy. The heros
they draw are mostly girls, there are many girls in the storys, it's about
romance, beautiful gowns and oppulent hairstyles.
Most of this artists draw Yuri, they are not into androids, bikes and starships,
because machines are boy things.
Ahh! WB and Disney has totally lost it's self-confidence. Japanese artists are
faster, do sell more comics and american companies really wanna have a piece of
this billion dollar-pie.
Sad for all those young independant US artists and sad, because these shows are
re-remixers (because anime and manga already is the japanese remix of the
western culture) and this is poor. Learn from the Idea of manga and anime to
become better ist good. But imitating without learning is bad!
Yes i'ts stupid and girlish, but are you interested in fashion? Do you spend
lots of money for stuff like boots or pants? Are you inspired by the fashion in
some anime or manga, and: do you think that Fashion like those of... e.g. Dolce
& Gabbana (see winter collection 2006) is influenced by the japanese gothic
lolita (movement) ? I love romantic and victorian styles, but the blouses and
skirts I love are so damn expensive. Anyway, some of the best anime artworks
have influenced designers in fashion all over the word- that's my opinion.
There a so many things that can be cute. Most of the time people are dressed- so
the most important things will be the eyes, the mouth, the nose and the shape of
the face ( you will rate a womans personality by the face, not by the body
measurements) then the silhouette will be important to rate s.o. as ugly or
handsome: Shoulder, boobs, hip, butt, legs...
Undressed Girls: I do love to draw the back, the booty and sweet tummys and
belly buttons and i love cute feet. But yse, boys, boobs can be cute too (if
they are not stuffed with pounds of silicone)...
